Form fields

Start Date

The date the calculations start to run.

  • By default, this is the day the client is created
  • Can be any date in the past or future
    • This is useful for adjusting the calculations to a date closer to the client's birthday
  • Must be greater than birthday
  • No transactions can be created at an earlier date

For more details on how it affects the calculations, see Concepts - Years and Ages

Main client

Birthday

Most ages displayed in the app are related to the main client.

  • Transactions
  • Retirment Income
  • Tables

Retirement age

The age at which the client will retire, or has retired.

  • No retirement transactions can be created at a date earlier than the earliest of when one of the clients (main/partner) retire
  • Has no effect on the NZ Super qualifying age (which is always 65)

Partner

Partner data is used for:

  • Partner's Salary Income entries
  • NZ Super automatic calculations
  • Retirment Income data input and tables
warning

Always leave Has Partner unchecked for clients that are single.

Portfolio

Select one of the global portfolios or add a custom one.

Editing any of the entries you automatically create a custom portfolio. This can be undone by selecting a portfolio again.

Changes are only saved after clicking Save.

Inflation Rate

The rate to be applied when adjusting future values.

Use global inflation

Check this if the client's calculations should always use the global inflation rate.

Set it to false to be able to use a specific inflation rate for this client.

Automatically calculate NZ Super

Check this to automatically add NZ Super proceedings to the client's income during retirement.

Details on how the values are calculations can be found in the Calculations section
